LAGOS – The undying desire by one Alhaji Musa Ediagbonya to see his middle-aged daughter, Blessing Ediagbonya betrothed and married to a 76 years old man, Alhaji Farouk Adamu, has set the father and her daughter against each other to the point of kidnapping and attempted murder.
According to our correspondent’s reports, Blessing Ediagbonya, 31 years, has consistently disobeyed her father, who has become very desperate to marrying her out to Alhaji Adamu, his friend of many years.
According to the reports, apart from the fact that Blessing Ediagbonya has consistently queried her father for forcing her to become a fourth wife to the Alhaji, she also expressed her dismay that she is neither a Moslem or even interested in becoming a second wife to any man.
She disobeyed her father because, according to source, “it is against her Christian faith”.
It was further discovered that Blessing ran away from home and even travelled to Europe to avoid being forcefully married to a 76 years old man that is old enough to be her parents.
It revealed that having spent some time in Europe, Blessing decided to return back to Nigeria in December, 2015 and as she was going to the Embassy on December 2, 2015, for appointment, she was trailed and subsequently kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination where she was kept captive for about three (3) months.
When Blessing was eventually rescued, it was revealed that she was taken to a hospital where she spent about two months and two people lost their lives in the process.
A source who spoke under the condition of anonymity explained that it was a catholic church (name withheld) that paid the hospital bill and helped her to apply for the visa from France to enable her escape the brutality and inhuman treatment being perpetuated by her father.
According to the source, “when arrested on March 1, 2016, the kidnappers made confessional statement, pointing Alhaji Musa Ediagbonya, as the person on whose instructions they kidnapped and attempted murder of Blessing Ediagbonya, for failing to get married to his friend, Alhaji Farouk Adamu”, the source said.
As at the time of filing this report, all efforts to prosecute Alhaji Musa Ediagbonya and his aides, has not been successful; as he has vowed to either get Blessing married to his friend or she will be killed.
Alhaji Musa Ediagbonya is well respected in the community, as he is a very senior and high ranking Imam in the Muslim faith.
