KAGARA (NIGER) – Two persons last week died in a reprisal attack on one Alhaji Isah Bello in Kagara, the administrative headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

The reprisal attack was said to have been orchestrated by friends and family members of one Emeka Chibueze who were grieved by his death which they linked to one Alhaji Isah Bello and Ebhodaghe Cedrick.

It was gathered that Emeka died following the injuries he sustained from a machete cut allegedly inflicted on him by Alhaji Isah.

The Nigerian OBSERVER reliable gathered that on May 19, 2016, Emeka accompanied Cedrick, his friend to the house of Alhaji Isah Bello to collect the #200,000 balance of the #800,000 contract cost for aluminum doors and windows already supplied by Cedrick.

In the tradition of the Kagara people, no visitor is allowed to visit a newly married man until after about three months of the marriage.

The visit of Cedrick to the house of Alhaji Isah was therefore interpreted as an attempt to invade the house and rape Alhaji Isah’s new bride.

This, it was gathered provoked Alhaji Isah to pick up a cutlass and in an attempt to inflict injury on Cedrick who on noticing ran away, threw the cutlass which hit Emeka on the head and caused him injury.

Emeka, it was further gathered fell and was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he bleeded till he became unconscious and later pronounced dead by the doctor

Following the death of Emeka, the Police authorities from the Kagara Police division were said to have invited Cedrick for questioning, but his refusal to honour the invitation made officers from the division to visit his residence, ostensibly to arrest him, but was not found.

However, The Nigerian OBSERVER gathered that Ebhodaghe Cedrick has gone into hiding when he learnt that he was identified as a principal suspect in the death of Emeka.

Efforts to reach Cedrick for comment on the matter failed; however, the Police authorities were yet to make a statement on the matter as at press time.
