Lagos –  Assets Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, on Thursday, took over all assets owned by Silverbird Group- Silverbird Galleria Limited, Silverbird Promotions Limited, and Silverbird Showtime Limited all belonging to Senator Ben Murray Bruce.
Silverbird Group is accused of owing the government agency about N11billion.
Policemen have barricaded all properties belonging to Silverbird Group owned by Senator Ben Murray Bruce.
AMCON on April 18 appointed Muiz Banire as Receiver/Manager over the sprawling assets of the three companies located at 133 Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, Plot No 1161 (Silverbird Galleria); Central Area Cadastral Zone AOO, Abuja; and Abonnema Wharf Road and Abali Park in Port Harcourt City of Rivers State.
According to Premium Times, AMCON had the intention to seize the properties, barring any last-minute change of plans.
The takeover followed the interim orders granted by Justice Cecilia Olatoregun-Ishola of the Federal High Court, Lagos, on June 17 which allowed the Receiver/Manager to take possession of the said properties.
The properties were seen locked up by the agents of the Receiver/Manager in an exercise carried out under the supervision of men of the Nigerian police as directed by the Court order.
In the said order, Ben Murray Bruce’s companies are owing AMCON the sum of N11 billion which the companies have defaulted in paying up.
Silverbird TV station has since stopped live transmission of its programmes, showing only recorded programmes, while guests and staff have vacated all premises of the Silverbird TV stations and Cinemas.
Meanwhile, the Common Sense Advocate and Chairman, Silverbird Group, Sen Ben Murray-Bruce has reacted to the takeover of three assets of the Silverbird Group- Silverbird Galleria Limited, Silverbird Promotions Limited, by Assets Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON, on Thursday morning.
The senator said that he had been on an international flight and only landed a few minutes ago and has given his word that the situation is under control and things will be back to normal in no time.
The Silverbird group chairman took to his Twitter page to give this reassurance.
