EKPAN (Delta State) – The Delta State Police Command and Ekpan Community have declared a middle aged man, the Ekpan Community Hall Manager, Mr. Edah Wilson, Donatus Ogbeh and several others wanted to explain their involvement in the murder of John Mogidi in Delta State.
Speaking to newsmen in Asaba, the Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said the wanted suspects, Efetobore Okpaka, Innocent Elue, Edah Wilson, Donatus Ogbeh and several others now at large allegedly acted on the orders of the notorious Chief Newton Agbofodo to unleash terror, incessant bloodletting, maiming and death on the citizens of the state, following a leadership tussle between the community leader, Chief Newton Agbofodo and his estranged Vice, Mr. John Mogidi.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, “this palpable tension and wanton killings in Delta State is revenge to the killing of one Efe, a step son of Unuevworo of Ekpan community, Chief Newton Agbofodo.
“On noting the gruesome murder of John Mogidi by some strange looking cultists, the Ekpan Community Hall Manager and other people in the Community Hall hurriedly locked up the Hall and run into safety for their dear lives” the source said.
Chief Newton Agbofodo, the Unuewvoro (traditional head) of Ekpan community in Uvwie Kingdom, was however arrested on June 17, 2016 by a contingent of security team comprising police and military operatives, for alleged conspiracy and killing one Mr. John Mogidi.
According to an eye witness, “Chief Newton Agbofodo had on May 16, 2016, led seven armed boys in two vehicles, a Prado SUV and a Toyota Camry to intercept the motorcycle he and the deceased were riding on along NPA Expressway in Ekpan, where the deceased was allegedly murdered.
The source told our correspondent in Asaba that the boys, “acting on the orders of Chief Agbofodo, attempted to forced the deceased (vice-chairman of Ekpan Community Youths) into the SUV but when he resisted, one of the boys fired shots at Mogidi at close range and he died instantly.
According to reports, a security search of the Ekpan Community Hall and the residence of the Hall Manager by the state security agencies it was discovered that a deluge of arms and ammunition were kept in the home of Edah Wilson who was also alleged to be one of Chief Agbofodo boys amongst Efetobore Okpaka, Innocent Elue, and Donatus Ogbeh.
Items recovered include several battle axe, locally made guns, arms and ammunitions including amulets believed to be the property of Chief Newton Agbofodo and his boys.
Meanwhile, the Police authority have declared wanted Efetobore Okpaka, Innocent Elue, Edah Wilson, Donatus Ogbeh and several others now at large in connection with the several acts of killings, conspiracy and murder of several persons in the state who were conceived by Chief Newton Agbofodo to be opposing his heinous crimes across Delta State and its environs.
In a statement issued in Asaba by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Aduba and made available to the press including The NIGERIAN OBSERVER states that an handsome reward awaits anyone with useful information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of Efetobore Okpaka, Innocent Elue, Edah Wilson and Donatus Ogbeh.
“Such information should be reported to the nearest police station or State Police Command”, the statement added.
As at the time of filling in this report the whereabouts of the suspected culprits particularly the Manager of the Ekpan Community Hall, Edah Wilson and others was unknown.
