BENIN CITY – The Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, stated yesterday that Edo people will be proud of Mr. Godwin Obaseki as governor due to the quality of his intellect and leadership capacity which he is confident that he will bring to bear to give Edo people good governance and better life if elected governor of the state.
He noted that the development Edo State has witnessed in the last seven and half years on both human and infrastructure, did not happen by accident but was as a result of the deliberate plan that was initiated by Godwin Obaseki as Chairman of the Economic and Strategy Team of the state.
He also said he has no doubt that Mr. Godwin will do well as governor.
He made the statement in Benin at a get together meeting organized by the Campaign Organization of Mr. Godwin Obaseki for all the Coordinators of Team-GO from the One Hundred and Ninety Two Wards of the state which was held to sensitize them of the pending voters registration and collection of PVCs which is to commence on the 22nd of June this year and end on the 26th of same month.
He said “Let me join Godwin to appreciate all of you for your hard work, for been honest, for been a very reliable army of our great party, for remaining steadfast and above all for the respect and the trust you have demonstrated.
“I want to assure you that you and Edo People will be proud of Godwin. First as a party leader and even most importantly, in terms of the quality of governance because that is the entry point for the ordinary Edo person and if we have been able to perform miracles, that is paying of salaries as at when due, increasing the minimum wage by 38.8% and paying it up to date, flagging off new projects and sustaining old projects.
The secret has been Godwin Obaseki which was made possible by the combination of the Brain Box, the Chassis and the Engine which is me”. He stated.
Earlier, Barr. Osarodion Ogie who is the Commissioner for Works Edo State and Director General of the campaign organization while welcoming the coordinators thanked them for their good work and assured them of their continued relevance in the scheme of things.
He noted that in not more than forty eight hours from now the registration of voters and collection of PVCs will commence and that they should be ready to mobilize their people to register and collect their PVCs which according to him is the foundation of September 10th election.
He said “In another forty eight hours another very major exercise will commence. Continuous voters registration and collection of PVCs will commence. It is very important because that is the foundation of September 10th.
“We needed to invite you here to sensitize you as to the importance of this exercise. You have behaved very well and you have produced result and we expect again that this one again will produce result”. He noted.
