GBARAMATU -Oporaza town, Gbaramatu, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State is now a ghost town as the inhabitants have fled to the bush and other riverine communities following the attack on the community by soldiers on May,30,2016.

The attack that led to the death of several youths in the community including elderly men, women and children and the burning of over forty five houses have rendered the once bubbling town to a ghost land.

The attack of the town by the soldiers was ordered by the federal government and it was learnt that it was as a result of militants, under the guise of the Niger Delta Avengers,that have been attacking and blowing up oil facilities and installations including kidnapping of oil workers in the Niger Delta region.

It was gathered that the January 15,2016 blown up of the gas pipeline,converging gas from Escravos – Warri -Lagos, located Oporaza, Gbaramutu in Warri South Local Government,Delta State,property of Nigeria Gas Company and other illegal activities in the area necessitated the wanton killings of several innocent lives and destruction of properties with billions of naira.

The soldiers who invaded the town were on the lookout for suspected militants in the town, hundreds of people were arrested including some suspected militants, while about four persons, Tamuno Success, Pereye Major, Okorodudu Marvel and Timi Favour were alleged by security personnels to be the brain behind the nefarious activities taking place in Warri South Local Government Area,Delta State, were declared wanted.

The whereabouts of this wanted person is unknown as several youths have fled the town for fear of been killed by the soldiers.
