Benin City – It is often said that culture is the way of life of a people. Culture represents the complete sedimentation of a people’s value, history, language, rites, rituals and indeed, the whole gamut of their experiences individually and collectively.
While a people’s culture is undoubtedly the best pointer to their past and present, it is, however, a mute point whether or not it should continue to be a pointer to their future especially in the light of modernization, civilization and human right.
Reports reaching our news desk from Upper Sokponba area of Benin City have it that issues surrounding a notorious occult group masquerading as a cultural group is behind the sudden disappearance and rumoured death of one Anamali Stanley. According to our investigation, the said Anamali Stanley allegedly fled home following the mysterious deaths of his mother and sister.
According to a close source that pleaded anonymity, the father of the young boy simply identified as Pa Anamali, belongs to the Ogboni Confraternity, a cultural group suspected to be deeply into blood rituals and human sacrifices.
Following the sudden deaths of the Anamali Stanley mother and sister, rumours have spread like wide fire that the man, Pa Anamali was somehow behind their sudden deaths.
In fact, he was suspected of using them as sacrifices in order to attain an elevated position within the occult group. That rumour has persisted since the duo died some months ago and has intensified recently following the sudden disappearance of Pa Anamali only surviving child, Anamali Stanley.
According to another person familiar with the matter but who spoke to our news desk on the condition of anonymity, the young boy, Anamali Stanley sudden disappearance has to do with threat to his life.
The source further revealed that the boy had credible sources that told him his father has perfected diabolical plans to eliminate him as he perceives that his son was becoming too noisy about his affairs and that the father also intend to use him for rituals purposes. The source confided on us that the young boy has fled the country altogether.
Other sources, however, said that the young boy has been killed by his diabolical father and effectively used for rituals. As at press time, the whereabouts of the young boy had not been ascertained.
It is, however, hoped that some of these ancient cultural groups be proscribed and banned as their activities largely run against the tenets of civilization, good conscience and human rights.
