The authorities of the Nigerian Police, Imo State Police Command, have arrested some boys, suspected to be homosexuals in a house owned by the father of Samuel Obi at Ama-Igbo Street, Owerri, Imo State, just as it had declared five escaped boys wanted in connection with their alleged involvement in the homosexual practice.
Those arrested are Fidelis Chukwu, Agu John, Clement Ebelewa, Gabriel Osugu, Joshua Ikpeku and Lucky Ogechi, while those who escaped and have been declared wanted by the police are, Christian Emeka, Johnson Agu, Kingsley Abara, Kenneth Ugochukwu, Samuel Obi and Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma respectively.
Parading the suspects at the State Police Headquarters, in Owerri, Imo State capital, the officer in-charge of the Anti-Vice Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department, CSP Dimka Mohammed, said that the police arrested the suspects following a tip off of his men, who were on daily routine patrol of the area, saying that there was a birthday party organized in the house of one Samuel Obi on the 20th of March 2016, who in turn invited his friends including Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma and as his men were on patrol, they saw a gathering of about eleven boys and went to the scene to discover that they were practicing homosexuality.
The police boss further said that during interrogation, the arrested homosexuals, confessed to the crime and said that they were lured into the devilish act by Samuel Obi, the celebrant and his childhood friend, Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma.
The suspects who were interrogated alongside the said Samuel Obi and Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma among others before their escape, said that though Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma was from a devoted Christian family background of Catholic, but that he was influenced into it by the said Samuel Obi, even though he had not been indulged in the act prior to the incident that fateful day.
The police officer disclosed that since he (Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma) was in the mix of other homosexuals, it was presumed and alleged to have also been part of them, stressing that his escaped alongside his contemporaries, had proven and further implicated him in the alleged complicity, pointing out that the arrested homosexuals are currently being detained in the cell awaiting trial to commence in the criminal court, since the jail term is 14 years for any offender, while his men had launched a search against those who escaped especially Samuel Obi and his childhood friend Njoku Ezekiel Chukwuma, who are the alleged principal suspects to enable them face the full wrath of the law since homosexuality or gay practice is an abominable act which the law will not close its eyes on.
