BENIN CITY – The Nigeria Police, Edo State Command have declared one Osagioduwa Omoregie wanted over the death of a two Fulani herdsmen in Umoghun Village,Orhionmwon Local Government of Edo State
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Nkombe,it was learnt that the wanted suspect,Osagioduwa Omoregie led a mob to attack a Fulani herdsmen settlement in the locality,which left two of them dead and scores injured.
The Police PRO called on members of the public to aid the police with credible information that will lead to the whereabouts of the fleeing suspect and his gang
Investigation by our reporter revealed that some Fulani herdsmen had earlier took their cattle to some farm lands in Umoghun Village, destroying all the produce in the farm and setting it ablaze
It was also gathered that the Fulani Cattle herders had been raping women and attacking men in their farms,with more than 30 persons already killed by the cattle herders in the past.On June 14,2016 the Fulani and their cattle entered Osagioduwa Omoregie Pineapple farm and other farms,destroyed and ate the produce, Osagioduwa Omoregie’s father and two other elderly men were killed in this latest attack.
A source in the community disclosed to The NIGERIAN OBSERVER that these actions and events perpetrated by the Fulani Cattle herders led to the attack by the youths of the community on the Fulani settlement in Umoghun village. The farmers led by Osagioduwa Omoregie accosted the cattle herders and fighting eschew, in the process,two of them died.
Since the incident,the whereabouts of Osagioduwa Omoregie is unknown as the Fulani herdsmen are also after his life and that of other farmers.
