Benin City :- Last week, the city was once more thrown into mourning with the Killing of a prominent Benin Chief (name withheld) in the state capital during his birthday party by some group of boys suspected to belong to a deadly secret cult.
It was gathered that the boys numbering about six stormed the party and shot the chief at a close range and stood to make sure that he is dead. This led to commotion and everybody scampering for safety. It was also revealed that when the Police came to the scene of the incident, one Osamuyi Imade identified one of the boys as Ighodaro Nosa. According to him, the boy stays around his neighborhood and very notorious.
Some arrests were made but the said boy is still at large. Meanwhile the key witness, Osamuyi is currently on the run since some persons paid an unholy visit to Osamuyi,s family house two days ago in the wee hours of day, shot and kill his father Mr. Lugard Imade, his mother, Mrs. Mabel Imade and the brother who was with them in the house and left a warning that same will happen to him if he shows his face around.
A neighbor who claimed anonymity, revealed to us that nobody has seen him, since he got home after the incident, packed few of his belongings and left the house, they have expressed fears over the safety of Osamuyi with the network of cultist in the country.
The killing is still being investigated by the Police but with the sole witness to the case still on the run, the killing will remain another unsolved murder case. The Police is looking for Osamuyi Imade for more information about the said boy that carried out the shooting, while the cult group are also looking for him to silence him. But with the network of cultist in the country, his safety is not guaranteed.
As at the time of filing this report, no reason have been given for the killing. Whether politically motivated or otherwise.
