BENIN CITY – Ahead of the forth-coming governorship election in Edo State, a group known as Concerned Deltans For Good Governance has thrown its support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Mr Godwin Obaseki and running-mate, Hon. Philip Shaibu.

In a statement issued by the Coordinator of the group in Edo State, Mr Paul Ofonye, he stated that the organisation decided to support the APC candidate because of the achievements of the Edo State Governor,Comrade  Adams Oshiomhole within the past seven and half years in the state.

“We are not a political group, but we associate with the development and progress of any area or state irrespective of political party,” he explained.

He said, ” For some of us Deltans who have stayed in the state for several years, we have no reason to regret, because we have partaken in the employment opportunity created by the APC-led government in the state as it has never happened before.”.

According to him, the administration of Adams Oshiomhole did not segregate against none indigenes, as he abolished the issue of catchment area policy of admission into the state-owned higher institutions which made none Edo State indigenes pay higher fees  than the indigenes  just as he gave appointments to none indigenes into his  cabinet and other government offices.

The Coordinator of the Concerned Deltans For Good Governance called on all Deltans resident in Edo State and APC, Delta State Chapter to rally round the APC in Edo State for continuity of progress in the state  and he advised the electorates against being cajoled by politicians who cannot keep to theIr promises.

Mr Ofonye urged them to support continuity of what had been laid  down by Governor Oshiomhole, adding that as residents of the state, the non indigenes share in the progress and otherwise in the state.
