BENIN CITY— The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State is to flag-off its governorship campaign in Benin City on Saturday.
This was disclosed the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the State APC Chairman, Anselm Ojezua at an enlarged party meeting of leaders held at the Government House in Benin City yesterday.
According to the Governor, who recalled how the APC claimed its mandate from the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said, “we will start our campaign with a big bang and so I urge all of you to please come out in tens of thousands. You can do it and I know you can do it.”
He emphasized,” I want us to have a big outing,” describing his first and second tenure in office as the first and second chapters and that the administration of Mr. Godwin Obaseki would be third chapter, saying ” I only want to beg you to really work hard.”
While stressing that he and the State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dr Pius Egberanmwen Odubu had reconciled and re-united hence he encouraged all APC members to do same all at the ward, local government and state levels.
The Governor, who recalled his meeting with the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun in Abuja on Tuesday night, said ” So I need you to get back to business. I really us to get to work hard,” even as he reassured the party faithful, “ I want to thank you so much for your trust for your prayers.”
Commenting, the State Deputy Governor, Rt. (Hon.) Dr Pius Egberanmwen Odubu said “I wish to adopt everything I said yesterday (Tuesday) and I’m back for good.”
Also speaking, the Edo State Chairman of APC, Barr. Anselm Ojezua explained the effort made by the party’s leadership at reconciling the party’s gubernatorial aspirants.
In his remarks, the APC governorship standard bearer, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, who thanked all the aspirants that contested the party’s primary with him, disclosed that he had been officially presented with the Certificate Of Return as the APC governorship candidate by The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and that he and his running-mate, Hon. Philip Shaibu had also submitted their forms to the national leadership of the APC for onward transmission to INEC.
