Igbanke – There is a dark shadow hovering above our country, Nigeria.
This shadow is cast by the ghost of insecurity presently haunting the nation, there appears to be no part of the country free from the menace of one form of insecurity or the other.

From the anarchy of Boko Haram terrorists in the North-East of the country through the kidnapping and killings of bandits in the North-Central and North-West to the pillage and destruction of Fulani Herdsmen in the South-South and South West culminating in the lawlessness of some Biafran agitators in the South East, the nation seems to be enveloped in the vortex of insecurity reminiscent of Thomas Hobbes state of Nature where life was nasty, solitary, brutish and short.

Reports reaching our news desk from Igbanke in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State have it that some suspected Fulani Herdsmen recently attacked the community killing about four persons while destroying properties worth millions of naira .

According to our investigation, the nomadic Fulani herdsmen have been having misunderstanding with some farmers in the community who accused them of willfully using their livestock to destroy their farm products and have consequently seized about six cows belonging to the Herdsmen pending when the Herdsmen will pay compensation for the destruction of their crops.

The Herdsmen, instead of paying the compensation, allegedly attacked the town with sophisticated weapons leaving deaths and destruction in their wake.

According to our investigation, one of the persons whose properties was lost is one Ogiemwonyi Anthony Henry.

According to a source that pleaded anonymity, the said Ogiemwonyi Anthony Henry only recently got into the business of trading in farm produces, buying directly from farmers in their farms and transporting the goods to the market for sale.

The young man , who according to our source , suffers from an undisclosed medical condition, has gone into the trade to source for money for a medical surgery.

All his goods were allegedly destroyed by the marauding Fulani Herdsmen and the young man was only lucky to have escaped with his life as four other farmers were not that lucky .

Our source further told us that the said Ogiemwonyi Anthony Henry has suffered greatly from the unspecified medical challenge and had hoped to use the money from his new trade to surgically remove a growth in his body having been unable to secure medical help for years due to financial constraints.

Our source further revealed that the young man, Ogiemwonyi Anthony Henry has approached several hospitals in the past only to be turned back by the huge amount demanded.

The present economic woes confronting the nation have been worsened and compounded by security matters as farmers can no longer go to their farms thereby causing an astronomical rise in the cost of food as people are now afraid to venture into their farms for fear of Herdsmen attacks.
