Abuja – The Nigeria Police Force said its Complaint Response Unit (CRU) had resolved and closed 799 cases out of the 906 complaints received from members of the public.

This is contained in a second quarter report issued by the officer-in-charge, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP Abayomi Shogunle, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Shogunle said that this was less than the 1,054 complaints received in the first quarter of the same period under review.

He said 35 cases were found to be false, unrelated, while 72 cases were pending as investigation was still ongoing, while telephone topped in the reporting platforms with 537 calls.

He also noted that the report showed a steady decline in number of cases of professional misconduct against officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force.

The officer-in-charge attributed the decline to increasing level of compliance by officers to professional best practices in the conduct of their duties.

The officer said that Lagos, FCT, Rivers and Anambra State Police Commands accounted for over 50 per cent of the total complaints received (54.0 per cent).
