BENIN CITY – A young boy identified as John Chukwu was allegedly shot dead around Upper Sokponba axis of Benin in what appears to be a recent outbreak of cult clashes. The incessant cult related killings and maiming around the country have assumed a frightening dimension as young people are killing themselves in a senseless cult battle of supremacy.

According to a close source that pleaded anonymity, the recent cult clash is between the Black Axe Confraternity ( Aiyes) and Eiye Confraternity.

Our source has it that trouble started when a young man identified as Edwin Ifaluyi was followed to an apartment building around Nomayo Road in Upper Sokponba Road and attacked.

The said Edwin Ifaluyi, according to our investigation, has been courted by one of the cult groups for years. Sometimes in 2013, he was said to have been living with a prominent members of one of the cult groups, a young man simply identified as Oge.

The sad Oge allegedly brought his cult members sometimes in 2013 to severely beat up his friend Edwin Ifaluyi for refusal to become a member of their cult group after allegedly first agreeing to join them.
Our source further revealed that the said Edwin Ifaluyi miraculously escaped from his assailant although he was wounded and bruised.

According to our investigation, after the 2013 trauma, the young man fled Benin and only just recently returned and has been living with another friend of his before Oge and his cult members got wind of the fact that he was back to town.

Further investigation revealed that Oge cult group, on the 7th day of July, broke into the house where Edwin Ifaluyi was living only to be confronted by some members of a rival cult to which Ifaluyi’s host was not a member.

The said Edwin Ifaluyi was said to be unaware of the fact that the person he presently live with belong to a notoriously brutal cult group. According to our investigation the fight that ensued led to the death of one John Chukwu and several other persons were reportedly injured.

Our investigation further revealed that the young man, Edwin Ifaluyi has taken to his heels following the incident that happened.

Another close source that pleaded anonymity has it that members of both rival cult groups are embarrassed and angered that a non-member or a ‘Jew’ as they derogatorily call people who are non members should be responsible for a death of a member.

The source further revealed that a manhunt is presently on for Edwin Ifaluyi and the both groups have vowed to eliminate Edwin Ifaluyi.

As at the time of going to press, the whereabouts of the said Edwin Ifaluyi has not been ascertained and it is hoped that the young man is still alive. There is urgent need to confront the growing tide of cultism currently plaguing the nation and restore some semblance of morality and decency to our teeming youths who still believe that they are irrelevant unless and until they join one secret cult or the other.
