Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Nigeria police to apprehend and prosecute those behind the crisis in Esan South East local government area of the state.

The crisis, it was understood, started when supporters of the All Progressive Congress of Nigeria (APC)  and the People Democratic Party (PDP) engaged in a bloody clash that claimed two lives, Mr Felix Ukpebor 62 years and Mr. Odion Obehi  46 years as there are reports of unconfirmed number of  people injured and property worth millions of naira destroyed.

Governor Oshiomhole made the call shortly after he received briefs on  the security reports by heads of all the  security agencies on the outcome of the campaign rally in Ubiaja .

The Governor, The NIGERIAN OBSERVER was told , directed the heads of security agencies led by the Commissioner of Police to intensify efforts to arrest all the hoodlums who perpetrated the dastardly acts.

Meanwhile, reports according to an eye witness, who pleaded anonymity, indicated that the incident which occurred on July 13th 2016, was triggered off by a PDP supporter, Mr. Peter Orukpe who allegedly drove the party’s vehicle into the All progressive Congress campaign rally in Ubiaja.

It was further revealed that the PDP vehicle, packed-full with thugs, was used to hit one man at the rally  sparking off the fracas that resulted in the shooting and use of dangerous weapons by both parties that led to the death of  Mr Felix Ukpebor and Mr Odion Obehi.

The NIGERIAN OBSERVER further gathered that ,the news of the death of the men angered one   Mr. Lucky Aloba, a  cultist in the community who allegedly mobilized his gang members few hours later in retaliatory efforts to the home of Mr.Peter Orukpe of the PDP supporter to kill him.

It was also gathered that when they got to the home of Mr Peter Orukpe, they did not meet his wife and children at home except his mother and they shot her dead and set his house ablaze.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Edo state police command , Mr. John Adu when contacted confirmed the death of the two men identified as Felix Ukpebor and Mr Odion Obehi at Ubijia in Esan South East local government area of Edo state.

He said that five persons have so far been arrested  in connection with the incident while others are on the run including Peter Orukpe adding that  investigations into the killings of the two men had commenced.

Speaking on the issue, a family member of Late Mr. Felix Ukpebor said that since the incident occurred in the community and arrest made by the police, the whereabouts of Peter Orukpe has remained unknown to the family till date.
