BENIN CITY – Few days to the Edo Governorship election, President Muhammadu Buhari has recommended the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Godwin Obaseki to Edo State people.
He gave his attestation, “Mr. Obaseki, a seasoned person. I assure you and I recommend him to you so that so that you will continue to grow. You have a credible team. You better hold tight and make sure when they have succeeded”
He made the statement at the grand finale of the APC governorship election held at the Sam Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City yesterday, which witnessed massive turn out of people and dignitaries from all walks of lives within and outside Edo State.
On the current situation in the country President Buhari affirmed, “I assure you we are going to get out of this our economic problems. We are almost out of our insecurity problem and we are going make Nigeria great again. We are going to be very proud of our country once again and our psyche, our resources will not be for nothing. It will continue to be.

Recalling his previous visits to the state, he expressed gratitude to the people of Edo State and commended the Oba of Benin for his role he played to stabilize Nigeria.
“We are a nation of great human and material resources, especially the youths. Please sit down and reflect and remember what I said 30 years ago. We have no other nation like Nigeria,” he emphasized.
Welcoming President Muhammadu Buhari to the state, the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun said, “I want to join my people in Edo State, I want to join the indefatigable Governor of Edo State in welcoming you to Benin City. Ancient welcomes you once more.”

While presenting the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his running-mate, Hon. Philip Shaibu to the people, the National Chairman made a comparison between the period of 10 years before the Comrade Adams Oshiomhole’s administration as well as the seven and a half years of his regime and asked the people to appreciate what Governor Oshiomhole for what he had done and encourage them not to the past.
Also speaking, Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole welcome President Buhari to Edo State and commended him  for his fight against, “ stressed, “Under your leadership, Nigeria has a leader. The world appreciates that we have a leader with strength, with courage, with integrity, with honour and respect anywhere you go and for me as a Nigerian I am proud of that.”
Still on the international repute of Nigeria that President Buhari has restored to the country, Governor Oshiomhole submitted, “I am proud to say my President is not a thief and I will go on to say my President is a catcher of thieves.”

On issues of infrastructure, which he built in the state, Governor Oshiomhole x-rayed the campaign slogan of “Change the Change” of the opposition and persuaded the people to vote for continuity of the provision of social amenities just as he assured that the water supply project in Esan land abandoned by previous federal government would be reactivated by the President Buhari-led administration.
The Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council of the Edo state governorship election and Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, who noted that Governor Oshiomhole had laid the good foundation, told the people to vote for continuity as it is being done in Lagos and the difference is very clear, stressing that Edo State needs Godwin Obaseki now.
According to him, “Obaseki has the fear of God. I vouch for him.  All the members of APC, the National Working Committee and all the members of the Campaign Council we vouch we signed that Godwin Obaseki is the only sure way to progress in Edo State.”

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Minister of Labour and Productivity, Sen. Chris Ngige, some national leaders of the party including Olagunsoye Oyinlola and women leaders spoke to canvass vote for APC and its gubernatorial candidate.
After the reception at the airport, which included the inspection of the guard of honour, President Muhammadu Buhari, the governors, ministers, national and state top government functionaries and APC leaders  went to the palace of the Edaiken N’ Uselu, Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa.
