WARRI: The Agofure family of Agbarho in Delta State are agonizing over the fate of their daughter, Theresa Agofure whom they believe was wrongly accused of complicity in the death of a prominent politician, Adams Okoro.

. Theresa has been declared wanted by the police while at the same time she is allegedly being hunted by suspected cultists for over four months running

Mr Adams Okoro, a leading member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was allegedly found dead in a hotel room in Warri on April 29, 2016. The autopsy report shows he was poisoned, hence the desperation to avenge his death.

The deceased, though married at the time, was however said to be dating Miss Agofure among other concubines. Immediately after the autopsy report was released, his close family members who knew of his amorous relationship with Miss Agofure, openly accused her of complicity in the death of the local politician They subsequently threatened to kill her in retaliation for his death ;it’s a threat which has put Miss Agofure’s life in danger.

The late Adams was a popular figure in both political and social circles , and also a high ranked member of the Neo Black Axe Confraternity ; a deadly cult group whose membership span across cities in Nigeria.

Since his death and with the family pointing accusing fingers at Miss Agofure, gunmen suspected to be members of the Neo Black Axe Confraternity have repeatedly invaded her family home apparently to kill her.

Fearing that her fate was hanging in the balance, Miss Agofure went into hiding after Adams Okoro’s death was reported to the police headquarters in Benin City in order to get her arrested.

An elder member of the Agofure family, Mr Wilson Agofure told journalists that the entire family are now living in fears after some persons suspected to be cultists invaded their home on a number of occasions seeking to inflict vengeance on Miss Theresa Agofure.

” The family of late Adams Okoro had accused our daughter Theresa of poisoning him to death and they had also threatened to kill her too. We believe the accusation against our daughter is wrong because there is no direct evidence linking her to Mr Okoro’s death. The fact that she was dating him at the time of his death was not enough reason to accuse her of complicity in the alleged murder of the late politician.”, Mr Wilson stated.

He said the life of their daughter , Theresa , is hanging precariously as the family of the late politician and some of his friends, mainly cultists are bent in avenging the death of their comrade.

“We are utterly helpless now because a lawyer hired by the family to initiate a legal process over the case in a law Court was forced to quit after he was threatened to abandon the case or pay with his own life. The threat obviously came from some persons believed to be close associates of the late Adams Okoro.

“Even as I speak to the press, I know am doing so at my own peril because they might come for me too”, he intoned.

Meanwhile, the police in Benin City says it is probing the circumstances surrounding the death of the late politician following a complaint lodged by his family

It said Theresa Agofure has been declared wanted following her failure to honour the invitation earlier extended to her as part of the investigation process.

It urged any member of the public with useful information on that might lead to her arrest to report to the nearest police station in the country
