BENIN CITY – The Benin city metropolis was recently agog following the prevalent cult related activities across the country which spread to the Edo state leading to the death of scores of innocent lives.
Worst hit was the killing of the parents of one Omorogiuwa Osamudiamen by suspected cultists who allegedly invaded the city in a combatant-like status.
It was gathered that Osamudiamen and his friends whose names could not be ascertained as at press time, were returning from work that fateful day in the middle of August 2016 when they ran into some group of feared-killing young men suspected to be members of a dreaded cult group who had made the state unbearable for residents in recent times.
It will be noted that there had been deadly cult violence between two rival cult group over battle for supremacy.
The cultists were reported to have been shooting sporadically, a situation that left residents and passersby scampering for safety after some residents were killed and left in their own pool of blood.
It was further learned that Osamudiamen who took to his heel to escape was chased after by the cultists who apparently mistook him for one of the rival cult members that earlier shot their member to death.
This according to sources led to the killing of his parents.
Judging by the fact that these cultists have their tentacles spread across the country, Osamudiamen who many described as a hard working and easy going man disappeared to unknown destination for cover and safety and has not been seen or heard of, particularly for fear of the unknown.
Some sources privy to the incident who pleaded anonymity for fear of losing their lives to the unknown disclosed that the angry cultists invaded the streets of Benin city, including the home of Osamediamen and wrecked havoc by destroying all properties, a situation which necessitated police intervention.
According to the Edo state police command, the police had commenced investigation into the matter with a view to unmask the perpetrators of the heinous crimes in the state.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filing in this report, the whereabouts of Omorogiuwa Osamudiamen was still unknown. But unconfirmed sources stated that he might have escaped to an unknowm location to seek refuge.
