Abuja – The House of Representatives yesterday place Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin (Kano State) under suspension, following the recommendations profer  by the Committee on Ethics and privileges on an investigation into a matter of breach of privileges of members of the House.

The Committee of Whole who sat over the consideration of the report, adopted the four recommendations made by the Committee on Ethics and privileges through voice vote.

The Committee which was chaired by Hon. Ossai Nicholas Ossai (Delta State)  recommended that Hon. Jibrin should tender a formal written Apology to the House, prior to his future resumption of duties in the House.

In accordance with Chapter 9 (3) of the Code of Conduct for members of the House, Hon. Ossai said that Jubrin should be barred from positions of responsibility in the House until the end of the 8th Assembly and that Hon. Jibrin should also be reprimanded in accordance with Chapter 9 (1) of the code of Conduct for Members of the House of Representatives.

The House had on Wednesday, 21st September 2016 considered a matter of privilege moved by Hon. Oker-Jev Emmanuel Yisa who noted that while the House was on recess, severe allegations were leveled against some principal officers and the entire Members of the House by Hon Abdulmumin Jibrin, a sitting member and former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation.

The allegations he said, borders on issues of Integrity and violation of laws and norms of the budgetary process
Hon. Oker-Jev underscored the gravity of the allegations as a calculated campaign of calumny, denigration of the House and Publication of false and scandalous statements with libelous, contemptuous and defamatory contents in various media platforms.

He therefore prayed the House to properly investigate Hon. Jibrin on the matter and the House accordingly referred the investigation as sought to the Committee on Ethics and privileges.
