USEH (BENIN CITY) – Inhabitants of Useh Community in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria have launched a manhunt for one Mr. Tommy Bright Iyangbe over his involvement in gay practices which constitute a serious taboo in the community.
In their bid to ensure that he is caught, the people of Useh have deployed search parties involving able bodied men to neigbouring villages and beyond to ensure he does not escape justice for having anal sex with his fellow man.
The offence said to have been committed last month, Sunday 25th September in a hot afternoon in an abandoned mud house close to the Enogie (Duke) of Useh Palace was exposed by some vigilante guards in the community who claimed they had been monitoring his suspicious and illicit sexual behaviour.
According to the villagers, Mr. Bright whose whereabouts is now unknown following his escape from the village is believed to have engaged in the anal sexual activities for purposes of money ritual which perhaps explains his sudden rise to affluence.
However, a visit by our crime correspondent to the palace of the Enogie of Useh, HRH Otamere Olumuza Eweka of Useh Dukedom revealed that the community was wangling in pains over the abominable act.
Speaking, HRH Olumuza said the consequences of the offence was an abomination on the community which could result in epidemics and death, infertility and death of infants and adults alike.
He said to avert such unpleasant consequences, the blood of the fleeing Bright Iyangbe must be used to appease the gods of the land failing which the impending calamities will abound.
Meanwhile, the Police spokesman, Mr. Abiodun Osifoh in Benin condemned the act of homosexuality involving Bright Iyangbe and said the command was investigating the matter with a view to bringing the suspect to justice.
He however advised communities in Edo state to shun any acts of jungle justice advising them to report all cases of infractions to the Police.
