BENIN CITY – The Edo House of assembly has suspended Mr Victor Edoror, member representing (APC Esan Central) and former speaker of the house for three months over his refusal to appear before a committee set up to investigate him.

The House had in May 2016 impeached the former speaker over alleged misappropriation of fund.

consequently, an ad-hoc committee led by Mr Emmanuel Agbaje was set up to investigate the former speaker.

The speaker, Justin Okonoboh announced the suspension during plenary on Wednesday in Benin

Okonoboh said” the committee set up by the house to investigate the former speaker has submitted its interim report to the house.

” the report here with me stated that the member representing Esan Central refused to appear before the committee for investigation.

flowing from the interim report of the committee, I hereby suspend him for three months.

“To this end, I am setting up another five-man committee led by Mr Kabiru Adjoto (APC Akoko-Edo) to investigate the former speaker and submit report within the period of his suspension,” he said.

Also, the house received a letter from the governor requesting the house to confirm Mrs Esther Ikponwen as chief justice of the state.

The speaker, Justin Okonoboh thereafter directed the letter to the house committee on judiciary with a mandate to submit report at its next plenary.
