The Chairman of the Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP), Comrade Kelly Stephen Erukpe Ogbaloi said the LP decided not to challenge the victory of Mr. Godwin Obaseki in the tribunal, because it is retrogressive in nature.

The Edo LP Chairman said the preparation for the governorship election was highly prepared for and that all the political parties worked hard to ensure an hitched free election. He said the result of it is the emergence of the Governor Godwin Obaseki. He however said what should be done now is to correct all the abnormalities that were observed in the just concluded governorship election. He added that the LP will tolerate because there is new governor in the State. He further said Labour party will extract anything good from the new government for the betterment of Edo people. He reiterated that the party will cooperate with the government of the day for the welfare of the people of Edo State.

The LP chairman said the LP governorship candidate in the Edo 2016 election- Pastor Amos Arelogbe who made a statement on the elections was not having the competence to speak on behalf of the LP. He said “he cannot speak on the outcome of the elections, because he did not follow due process and as such, his statements could be referred to as his own personal opinion”.

He said the party will team up with the present government in ensuring a robust welfare package is made available for the people of Edo State.

Comrade Ogbaloi called on Edo people to support the government of Godwin Obaseki in other to move the State forward. “That is what LP stands for”, he said.
