The life of a young boy was cut short yesterday when a gate left by a welder fell on three children passing by and killing one on the spot.
The incident which threw the neighborhood into morning, happened about the time when children were coming back from school.
It was gathered that it took the intervention of some passerby to lift the gate off the children that were trapped under the it.
It was revealed that the mob that gathered, in a swift action set the shop ablaze, over the fact that a similar incident had happened before even though no life was affected then. The welder by name Andrew Osagie was warned to take precautionary measures. But the owner of the gate was supposed to have picked it up the previous day.The welder took to his heels when he realized that the mob will descend on him over the death of the boy.
The matter was reported to the Police and full investigation launched to find out the remote cause of the incident.
The welder who is currently on the run hails from Idumebo in Ekpoma, the first son of Mr. Ihoakhan Osagie could not be reached for questioning as he was said to have gone into hiding. Meanwhile, their family house has also been touched by some unknown individuals.
The Police has declared him wanted as he did not show up at the Police for questioning. He could be charged for murder if apprehended, and manslaughter.
