BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, serving and retired legal luminaries, children, family members and friends were among galaxy of dignitaries that graced Madam Helen Nekpen Uzzi’s 80th birthday thanksgiving church service at St John’s Anglican Church, Benin City on Wednesday.

At the well-attended church service, the celebrant, who henceforth assumes the status of octogenarian, took the Old Testament reading from the book of Isaiah chapter 65:17-25.

Speaking after the church service, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki attributed his success in life to the excellent upbringing by the virtuous octogenarian.

He said, “She brought me up from the age of two. Everything I am today, every value I have, every conduct I display, I learnt from her.”

Delivering his sermon earlier at the church service, during which he drew analogy form the life of David, the Vicar and Archdeacon, Venerable Isaiah Owheruo extolled the celebrant for being devoted to the work of God particularly to the bible study , her care for both her biological and other children pointing out that Madam Helen Nekpen Uzzi has clocked 80 years and that whatever she is today is by the grace of God.

Commending the children for taking care of their mother, which he urged them to sustain it, the cleric also advised Christians to be thankful, praising God always, godly, prayerful even for others, generous and learn to forgive others.

Special prayers were offered for the Governor, Deputy Governor and Madam Helen Nekpen Uzzi as well as her family.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, Madam Helen Nekpen Uzzi’s children and other family members, Mr. Dan Inneh, his wife and Chairman of Edo State Civil Service Commission, Princess Mrs. Ekiuwa Inneh as well as other dignitaries later joined the celebrant to offer special thanksgiving to God.
