BENIN CITY:  Some unidentified gunmen allegedly working for the opposition party in Ovia South-West local government area have killed a  PDP leader ,Mr.Owenvbuigie Ogbeiwi and his two children in Ward 3 ,Umaza.

  The Nigerian Observer gathered that the gunmen who had been on the trail of the PDP leader and his 3 children  for several months stormed the house of the ward leader  on November 15,2016 leaving the father, his son and daughter  dead in the dastardly attack  while the second son was said to have escaped with injuries.

  It was said that after the killing  by the unknown gunmen in Ovia South-West local government area, the only surviving child ,Sunday Osas Ogbeiwi who is the co-ordinator of ward 3,Umaza escaped the assassination attempt on members of his family.

  A source in the family who spoke on condition of anonymity said that the family of  Mr.Owenvbuigie Ogbeiwi had been receiving death threats from anonymous persons for refusing to allow the opposition party to have their way during the conduct of election at ward 3 .

 The Nigerian Observer gathered that  elections at Ward 3 in Umaza in Ovia South-West local government area in the past are usually characterized with violence as it  always end up in favour of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

 However on November 15,2016 unknown gunmen suspected to be working for the opposition party(APC) in the state stormed the ward to unleash mayhem on the family of the ward leader.

 The  Police spokesman in the state, DSP.Joe Akpan confirmed the killing of the ward leader and his two children adding that the corpses had been deposited at the morgue while the police are concluding plans to launch an investigation into the case.

 It however said that anyone with information that could lead to the whereabouts of the missing son should please come forward to the police with such information as it would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
