Following the renewed cult fracas in Edo State no fewer than three persons have lost their lives in different locations in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The renewed clashes was said to have occurred after the completion of sessional examination by students of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that the three persons who lost their lives in this recent cult war are students from Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma.

Investigation revealed that the fracas was between Eiye Confraternity and Black Axe cult groups as the leaders and kingpins allegedly behind the deadly fracas have been apprehended by the Investigating Police Officers (IPO) Sgt. Charles Osarewinda Ukoniwe and members of his Anti-cultism team.

Report had it that following similar incidents that occurred in the State from January 2016 and the last being reported by national dailies on November 28, 2016 where about five persons lost their lives, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) gave a matching order to the Edo State Police Command to arrest those behind the killing in this recent cult war in the State.

The commissioner of police Haliru Gwandu who confirmed the killing of the three students on the 7th of December 2016 express delight that his men are on top of the situation as the Police Investigation Officer (IPO) Sgt. Charles Osarewinda Ukoniwe and his seven man team investigators from the anti-cultism team have made progress as the kingpins of the rival cult groups have been arrested.

Sgt. Charles Osarewinda Ukoniwe and the Anti-cultism team were appreciated by the Edo Police Command and the public for the arrest of those allegedly behind the killings as the team broke all odds to ensure the arrest which mark a remarkable achievement for the police force in fighting criminality in the State.

The determination and commitment of the Anti-cultism team led to the arrest of over ten other persons who all confessed on their various level of involvement, however since the arrest of the cult members, the life of the team leader and his men have been under threats.

As the police conclude their investigations, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Haliru Gwandu says those arrested will be charge to Court soon to face Justice.
