A middle-aged man, Ijeta Abraham, has narrowly escaped assassination attempts unleashed on him by the family of his lover, Aisha Abu, a Muslim girl, just as he had been declared wanted by the authorities of the Nigeria police, Area Command Headquarters, Benin City, over his alleged controversial complicity on the death of his lover’s brother, Abdulraheem Abu, through accident resulting from the accusation of impregnating the deceased’s only sister, Aisha Abu.
It would be recalled that the said Ijeta Abraham, who has been in a relationship with the Aisha Abu, is a Christian from the Christian family and impregnated the Muslim born girl, which triggered off anger in the family of Aisha Abu, especially her father, Alhaji Mohammed Abu, who became infuriated by the ugly development that befall his family and as such, threatened to deal ruthlessly with the boy for daring him.
Speaking to Journalists at their No 12, Ogheghe Community residence, Benin City, the brother to Ijeta Abraham, Ijeta Lucky, said that his brother and the Muslim girl had been in a very seriously confined relationship for a long time to the extent that all entreaties by the Muslim family to disrupt the relationship so that their daughter could marry their preferred Muslim suitor, KazeemSuleman did not yield good results as their daughter, was already decisive in going on with the relationship with the Christian lover, whom she vowed to marry even against all odds.
He further said that not comfortable with the development, particularly against the backdrop of considering it as a religious infiltration to his humble family, the said father of the girl, yesterday went to the house of Ijeta Abraham, after discovered that his daughter was seven months pregnant and attempted to forcefully take away his daughter who refused to leave her lover at that instant.
He added that not succeed, he Alhaji Mohammed Abu and his muslim subordinates, who accompanied him to the house of Ijeta Abraham, started to fight him (Ijeta Abraham) and threatened to kill him for callously daring them by forcefully impregnating their only daughter in a controversial circumstances.
He stressed that while the fight was on going, neighbours in the area made frantic efforts to mediate but to no avail as the said Ijeta Abraham was over- powered by the Muslim thugs brought by his lover’s father and as he escaped them while trying to kill him, he ran into his car to escape and possibly to report to the police and as he was reversing his car to zoom off, he hit the brother of Aisha Abu, Abdulraheen Abu and he died on the spot.
That sympathizers who thronged area shouted to draw the attention of the Muslim faithful in the area who came and swung into action by unleashing terrorist attack by ceaselessly stoning his car and he quickly jumped down to escape killing, pointing out that they angrily set the Toyota Camry belonging to one MrUche, who is a friend to the said Ijeta Abraham ablaze and based on that he (Ijeta Abraham) ran away to his village in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, to hide from being killed but the father of the deceased, who later got the wind of his escaped to the village, planned to invade the village with his Muslim killers’ squad, because he is a very wealthy man and boated to use his huge financial resources to actualize his dastardly act as a revenge for the death of his daughter and before he got to their village, he (Ijeta Abraham), escaped and consequently, he reported the matter to the police and thereafter influenced the police to either arrest and prosecute him in a criminal charge of a murder as well as an unlawful impregnation of his daughter with a penal code or be killed without trace.
Ijeta Lucky, explained that when he could not get his whereabout, he caused the police to declare him wanted to enable him face the full wrath of the law in line with the penal code, while they (Police and Alhaji Abu) urged the members of the public to give any useful information that could lead to his arrest, describing the incident as very unfortunate, just as he, Ijeta Lucky has appealed for the safety of his brother to avoid being killed just for religious reasons.
