UGBEGUN (Edo State) – It is often said that wonders shall never end; particularly now that the culture and way of life of African people which represents complete sedimentation of its value, history, languages, rites and rituals, now run against the light of modernisation, civilisation and human right.
According to our reports, situations now abound where uncles now defile nieces, brothers rape sisters and even father having carnal knowledge of their own children. This state-of-affairs according to reports can go on for years without anyone hearing of it because, among other things, the woman in Africa appears to be helpless in this regard.
The reports said that this whole gamut of experiences has begun to reverberate different controversial experiences in the Akhadueki Benjamin family, where Pa Benjamin, a voodoo adherents, occult traditional practitioner has continue to have carnal knowledge of his own daughter Favour Benjamin for several years in Ugbegun, Esan North East Local Government, Edo State.
It was revealed that one Favour Benjamin was severally raped by her biological father since she was age 13 and threatened her of a grave danger should she ever inform any one about their escapades.
According to Pa Ugiagbe Inua, a community leader in Ugbegun said that it was the bold move by the wife of Elder Benjamin and mother of Favour Benjamin to cry out and call the community elders to save her daughter from the hands of her husband who turned his own daughter to his sexual ritual escapades.
Pa Inua told our correspondent last week that Mrs. Benjamin broke with tradition and openly narrated how her daughter has been sexually molested by her own father for well over three years.
Sources disclosed that the father started having sexual intercourse with the young girl when she was about 13years of age and has continued ever since till the young girl decided she has had enough and told her mother who later cried out for help.
Our sources further revealed that due to the occultic nature and voodoo indulgences of the paedophile Elder Akhadueki Benjamin, the community could not successfully or rather are even afraid to deal with him before his death.
Another source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that when the whole sad story became very difficult for Mrs. Benjamin to bear, she developed a high blood pressure and later passed on.
“This according to the source, was particularly so when the elders of the Ugbegun Community accused Favour Benjamin as the major cause of the death of her parents, emphasising that is an abomination for a father to have carnal knowledge of his daughter. The elders demanded that Favour Benjamin must undergo female genital mutilation (circumcision) and be made available for other ritual cleansing”, the source said.
“The security agents are more often than not, uninterested in such “trivial issues” as they insisted that it is a civil matter and could only be resolved by the family and elders of the community” the source concluded.
As at the time of filing in this report, nobody seems to know the whereabouts of the young girl who must have gone into hiding for fear of her life.
It was however said that Favour Benjamin was kept in the custody of a church in the community to prevent her from undergoing such humiliating ridicule and other ritual cleansing being demanded by the elders of the Ugbegun community.
