BENIN CITY- The Edo State Police Command have declared a 20-year-old man, one Omorodion Kelvin, a prison escapee and murder accused, wanted over his escape from lawful custody wanted.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the command in Benin City, the Edo State Capital, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Nkombe, said that the prison escapee, Omorodion Kelvin, was arrested alongside members of his Eiye Confraternity on March 17, 2015 over his alleged involvement in murder of a rival cult member during an inter-cult clash in Benin City.
“The said Omorodion Kelvin ‘m’, who was born on the 26th of January, 1997, was arrested sometime 17th of March, 2015 alongside with other members of his cult gang for a case of murder, during a rival cult clash that culminated to the murder of their member at the scene, of which after investigation, they were charged to court and remanded in prison custody on awaiting trial.
“Incidentally, on the 19th of January, 2016, at midnight, there was a jail break at the Benin Central prison where many suspects escaped including the said Omorodion Kelvin.
“Consequently, on the 20th of February, 2017, members of the Black Axe Confraternity in retaliation of the killing of their member invaded Kelvin’s abode in search of him and angered by Kelvin’s non availability dastardly murdered his sister in cold blood.
“All attempts by the police to re-arrest the prison escapee, Omorodion Kelvin as at today met a brick wall as his whereabouts and safety remain unknown to the Command”, he said
The Police, however, called on members of the public who may have useful information that could lead to the re-arrest of Omorodion Kelvin to approach any security formation in the country, assuring that such information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
It was later scooped that the rampaging Black Axe members have vowed to eliminate the fleeing Omorodion Kelvin whenever they sight him, this is even as they have also allegedly vowed to spread their dragnets across the nooks and crannies of the country in search of Kelvin.
Meanwhile, when our crime Correspondent visited the family compound of the on-the-run Kelvin, there was weeping and wailing over the gruesome murder of Kelvin’s sister by the daredevil Black Axe members who reportedly came in search of Kelvin.
A family member managed to speak to our Correspondent on the condition of anonymity, said that the Black Axe cult members in company of some family members of their deceased’s member who was allegedly killed by Kelvin’s group stormed Kelvin’s Upper Sokponba residence with the alleged intent to kill Kelvin.
The source, however, made passionate appeal to anyone who may be housing Omorodion Kelvin to kindly have compassion on him and ensure his safety, adding that the Black Axe members are hell-bent on killing him so as to avenge the death of their member.
