BENIN CITY – The Edo State Police Command has declared a middle age man Efe Endurance Osei wanted over alleged involvement in the murder of his step-father, Mr. Osaretin Lucky and his consequent act viewed as a taboo in theland.
Declaring the suspect wanted, the Edo State Police spoken man DSP Stephen Onwochei disclosed the police command has staged a grave manhunt for the fleeing suspect whose last known address was No 9, Okunwa Street, Ikpoba Hill, Benin City.
DSP Onwochei who asserted that no individual was permitted to take laws into his/her hands under any guise, described the suspect, Efe Endurance Osei as chocolate in complexion, 5.7 ft tall, speaks Edo and English Language fluently. The PPRO used the medium to urge any member of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of Osei to report at the nearest Police Station as handsome reward awaits such individual.
Investigation by The NIGERIAN OBSERVER revealed that trouble Started for Efe Endurance Osei when he was alleged to have been caught in same – sex affair by the community and was consequently declared wanted by the elders in – council for desecrating the land.
It was also gathered that ever since Osei’s step-father, Mr. Osaretin Lucky (now deceased) first noticed his involvement in incest, there had been no peace in the home as he (late Lucky) now turned his wife and mother of Osei Mrs. Esosa Osaretin into a punching bag each passing day, particularly on April 20, 2017 when Osei returned to the house early unannounced following his declaration by the community and this development further aggravated Late Lucky’s situation.
Mother of Osei, Mrs. Esosa Osaretin who narrated the matter to our crime reporter said her late husband in his usual manner descended heavily on her unaware that his son Osei was close to the house. She said attempt by Osei to cushion the situation failed as her late husband act of anger hit Osei and a serious confrontation erupted between Osaretin Lucky and his step son, Osei.
Angered by the development. Osei it was alleged rushed to the kitchen and picked up a mortar pestle with which he used to hit the late Lucky on the head and lost consciousness in the process.
According to Mrs. Osaretin, efforts to review late Lucky failed as they wailed and yield to the hearing of passers–by whom rushed into the house to see what had happened before giving him (Osei) the worst ill-treatment of his life.
But for his narrow escape. Osei would have been killed in the process before he was declared wanted in connection with the murder of Osaretin Lucky and his consequent involvement in homosexual act. It will be noted the cultural norms of the people of Nigeria forbid sodomy, incest, homosexual and gay prescribed grave punishment for anyone guilty of such crimes in the society.
Following this, former president Goodluck Jonathan had in 2015 signed the bill prescribing 14 years jail terms for anybody caught in same sex affairs in the county.
