BENIN CITY – Unknown gunmen yesterday attacked the home of one Ediae Kingsley, of house No 1 Osayamen Street, off Murtala Mohammed Way in Oredo local government area of Edo state.
The gunmen numbering four stormed the house, but were said to have missed their target, Kingsley who had went to get some food after coming back from work.
“They shot his bed 3 times. They think maybe he (Ediae Kingsley) was sleeping.
“We were all scared, because they searched for him for some time before they (gunmen) left”, an eyewitness told our reporter
Other occupants have since deserted the building, over fear for their lives.
The matter has since been incidented at the police station in the area.
It was however learnt that, the attack was not unconnected to the fight over the late Mr. Ediae (Ediae Kingsley’s father) property.
According to a family source, Ediae Kingsley ought to be the beneficiary of his late father’s wealth, but that, the deceased Kinsmen are saying “Ediae Kingsley was adopted, and not the son of their late brother”.
It was further learnt, the matter has cause division in the family which is suspected to had led to the attack.
Police detectives have since commenced investigation into the matter.
“We are already tracking the gunmen, and will soon be arrested”, a senior police officer said via text message, in a response to an enquiry from our reporter
Meanwhile, Ediae Kingsley could not be reached as at the time of this report, as he was said to have gone into hiding.
