LAGOS – There was confusion and pandemonium on June 3, 2017 at the Rethroick Travels and Tours Guest House, Lagos as the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders’ meeting holding at the venue was gravely punctured following the unexpected presence of the security agents accompanied by some armed men suspected to be supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) party who ordered that the meeting be halted abruptly.

It was gathered that unlike previous political meetings which usually ended up in chaos, the PDP stakeholders meeting which was well graced by members was going on smoothly as deliberations were unanimously approved and adopted before the invasion by security agents led by the Assistant Superintendent of Police, (ASP) Bare Joshua.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said that ASP Joshua was accompanied by suspected supporters of the ruling APC who wielded various weapons such as Tear gas, Military belts, Batons, Horse whips, Broken bottles and pieces of furniture.

The NIGERIA OBSERVER learned that immediately the security agents arrived, they alerted from their vehicles and took over strategic positions while the ASP Joshua and some of his men walked into the meeting hall and ordered the immediate termination of the meeting.

This development, it was gathered did not go down well with the PDP supporters as they vehemently opposed the order of the security boss, even as they (PDP supporters) chanted their party slogan and sang the party anthem.

It was further learned that while this was going on, the APC supporters who had earlier position themselves outside stormed the main hall leading to a free-for-all fight which resulted in blood shed.

Some journalists were not spared as they had their own share of the fracas as one of the reporters was hit by gun’s butt and his camera damaged while the officer shouted at him, saying ‘who invited you here’.

However, some of the PDP, faithfuls, including Alhaji Yekini Sanni Babatunde Ilaboya (General Secretary), Sylvester Aghomon (Publicity Secretary), Dimuna Diokpa (alias double D) amongst others were seriously battered before being handcuffed and were being taken into waiting van branded. “Operation Gbale” as at the time of filling this report.
