A health worker attached to the Konduga Health Centre, in Konduga, Borno State has been kidnapped by the militant Boko Haram terrorist group. The health worker, identified as Igbinosun Francis was leading a vaccination team to neigbouring villages and was kidnapped at a road block set up by the militants along Dalwa East Konduga Road on Saturday. It is believed that he was taken to their Sambisa forest hideout.

Mr Igbinosun Francis was seconded from the Federal Ministry of health, Abuja to alleviate the critical shortage of health workers administering the Expanded Project on Immunization under the auspices of the World Health Organization.

It is believed that the militants abducted him because they see the governments immunization scheme as a western backed effort to sterilize muslim women and reduce their population.

The kidnapping was confirmed by the Divisional Police Officer at Konduga Police Station who said there have been no ransom demands from the militants and that they were collaborating with other security agencies to locate and free him.
