Edo state governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki said the greatest asset any nation or government would get is the human resources as their contributions to the nation and the state cannot be underestimated hence his administration has decided to deal with any situation that will hinder their productivity.

He said this when he received members of the civil service commission led by the Chairman Princess Ekiuwa Inneh who were in government house Benin City to present the 2016 annual report.

Obaseki said his government believes that the greatest resources any government or nation will have is the human capacity. “For us as a government, human resources are the greatest assets and that is where our government is focused on. It is the human resources and the human capacity you have that creates everything else you need. We would not retrench any worker but rather create an enabling environment for them to thrive and be productive”.

He noted that to give the workers a sense of belonging, his administration started from the secretariat by ensuring that a conducive atmosphere is created for workers in the state.
“If you want to get the best out of your workers or human resources, you must give them or create the enabling environment for them to thrive and effectively delivered on their responsibility”.

Earlier, the Chairman Edo State Civil Service Commission Princess Ekiuwa Inneh thanked the governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki for receiving them despite the short notice.

She said the 2016 annual report is an overview of the situation of the Civil Service and the report presented to the governor will enable him know how the Civil Service stand. “The report will show the staff strength, existing vacancies, the spread of the cadre, gender as well as local government distribution.”

“On the 11th of July 2017, the commission was here to present to you, the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 annual reports and today we are here to present the 2016 report. When we got to office four years ago, we met the 2012 report outstanding, we concluded it and went ahead to prepare the other three years”.
