BENIN CITY: Edo State Joint Account and Allocation Committee, (JAAC) has declared N2.4 billion as the total allocation that accrued to the 18 local government Councils in the state from the Federation account for the month of October 2017.

The head of local government administration of Uhunmwode Local government, Mr. Anthony Osa Kaduna Eboigbodin disclosed this at the end of JAAC meeting held at government House in Benin City and presided over by the governor of the state Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

Eboigbodin said out of N2,391,150,633.65 billion total allocation to the councils N1,108,476,358.72 was allocated for the payment of teachers salaries while N244,87,81.04 was set aside for the payment of pension.

He said total allocation distributed to the 18 Local Government Council in the state is put at 732,850,981.56 million.

Speaking further, Eboigbodin said other decision reached at the meeting as directed by the governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki was the lighting up of the state before chrismass.

Eboigbodin said that a committee to be chaired by the 18 commissioners of the various ministries, assisted by Heads of Local government Administrators and comprising officials of BEDC was set up to oversee the lighting process.

The lighting process is into three categories of communities; Communities that have infrastructures and if their is deficiency such need to be improved upon. Communities that are yet to be connected to the power grade will come later and not fall within the period of Christmas”.

He said the governor commended the state of internal generated revenue by councils.
