BENIN CITY- The story has been reported about the whereabout of a young innocent Benin man, Sunday Obasuyi for refusing to be forcefully initiated into the most dreaded and bloody ‘Ogboni’ Cult in Benin City.
According to an anonymous reliable family source who narrated the story to our correspondent, under strict confidentiality for fear of victimization said the whole issue actually started about four years ago, that later snowballed into this crisis.
The source said the victim, Sunday Obasuyi, whose late father occupied a high sacred tittle of a Chief Priest in the hierarchy of the Ogboni Cult, never knew all his life, when the father was alive that he was a member of the dreaded cult, let alone occupying such a high rank.
Moreso, it was not also known to him that the high position occupied by his late father entails penciling down his own son for initiation on his demise as their fetish rules and tradition demands, as he was never informed by his father before he passed on.
He said after the death and burial of his late father, a delegate was sent to Sunday Obasuyi from the Cult informing him of the automatic membership and to get ready for the inevitable initiation. He was also made to understand the consequences of his refusal, which he should dare not.
But the young innocent man replied them saying he is a Christian and ardent believer of Christ, who strongly believes in the principle of “Thou shall not serve God and mammon together”. But the delegate, who didn’t take his refusal response in good faith, gave him time to think about it before their second coming.
The source also revealed that since then, they kept calling, but couldn’t see him at home anywhere and anymore.
Then on one fateful day, when the cultists armed with dangerous weapons and fattish materials attacked the house and when he could not still be found, about seven occupants of the house were given house arrest and locked in a room to be used for the initiation rituals in his place. But Sunday Obasuyi mobilized to release the innocent people thereafter.
In another attack, this time he was physically caught and detained but was lucky to be released by his blood sister Deborah Obasuyi, who was also at home the very day, but later overpowered and killed in the attack as he Sunday Obasuyi luckily escaped during the melee. Occupants of the house and close neighbours scampered for safety during the bloody crisis.
Ironically, the law enforcement agents and other agents of the Federal Government who didn’t take kindly to the perceived criminal-like action of Sunday Obasuyi and who they also perceived to be encouraging and causing civil unrest in the area and subsequently declared him wanted with a handsom reward for any successful informant that lead to his arrest.
It was also reliably gathered that members of the Ogboni Cult have never rested ever since, still vowing to get him.

They have vowed to also employ the services of their Boko Haram members in the northern part of the country and OPC in the west to smoke him out of his hiding place, saying he can only run but can hide, as far as Nigeria is concerned.
Meanwhile, some co – members and friends of Sunday Obasuyi in the same church (name withheld) have appealed to all concerned citizens and Godly spirited people to please help in the search and protection of the young innocent Sunday Obasuyi, a Christian and complete victim of circumstance.
They however condemned in its entirety a very hopeless and helpless situation Christians find themselves in this country, while the muslems are treated like sacred cows. They also lamented over the situation where an armless innocent citizen cannot report his predicament to government, because the hierarchy at the top, harbor top members of secret cults like the Ogboni cult and others and so there is nowhere to hide.
