BENIN CITY – It was weeping and wailing in Iguadolor village in ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, as residents thronged the compound of the odionwere (village head) of the community to catch a glimpse of the three family members who were gruesomely murdered and left in their pool of blood by assailants.
The situation which left other members of the family and relatives weeping uncontrollably crested pandemonium, apprehension and panic as they wondered why the assailants would carry out such dastardly act on three family members.
Though the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder could not be immediately ascertained as at press time, sources stated that the assailants actually came for the suspected target one Nosa Aslem Efosa whom they alleged has on axe to grind with them,
They also narrated that when the assailants could not find their target, they wasted no time in spraying bullets on the deceased, killing them on the spot.
Speaking with journalists, the odionwere accused one Mr. Perick Okayele of masterminding the killing saying that he has been threatening his life.
“He has been Threatening us and today, he has been carried out the threat”, stated the Odionwere.
However, Egbon who Expressed shock over the incident denied any involvement in the matter.
Commenting on the matter, the chairman of Ovia North East Local Government Council, Hon. Scot Ogbemudia condoled with the deceased family assuring that the law will take its course.
Contacted, the Edo State Police public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dsp Chide Nwabuzor confirmed the incident, describing it as sad.
According to the police spokesman, no arrest has been made and the investigation was ongoing with a view to revealing the circumstances surrounding the killings.
