The Women Wing of the PDP Campaign Council stormed Esan Land in two rallies at Irrua and Uromi which saw women from across all the Local Government in Esan gather to declare tneir support for the reelection of Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Rt Honourable Philip Shaibu ahead of the Edo gubernatorial election.
Accompanying the First Lady in the visit were the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Maryann Shaibu; National Deputy Women Leader of the PDP Hajia Hadizat Umoru, Deaconess Lizzy Tes Sorae; Honourable Commissioner for Social Development and Gender Issues, Maria Edekor Esq; Special Adviser on Gender Issues, Efosa Uyigue and other PDP female party chieftains .
The First Lady appreciated the women for standing behind the governor in his quest for a better developed state. She noted that Governor Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu is an unbeatable team who mean well for the State and they are working tirelessly to ensure that Edo state becomes a place everyone will be proud of.
She said women have a key role to play during this election as the battle is between light and darkness and with their support on the 19th of September, light will prevail over darkness because the governor will come out victorious.
She enjoined the women to come out on time and ensure they wear their face mask before going to their polling unit as without their face mask, they won’t be allowed to vote.
The Edo State First Lady said this election is very critical in deciding what happens to the future of all Edolite and as such the women should ensure they come out in their large numbers to exercise their franchise.
She encouraged the women not to be scared during the election as there will be adequate security at the polling units.
She supported the women with pack of food items and toiletries and assured them that Governor Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu will do more when reelected as the prosperity of all is their major concern.
The Women declared their support for the governor’s reelection and thanked the first lady for finding out time to reach out to them and assured her of massive votes during the election.
The Wife of the Deputy Governor, Maryann Shaibu in her address said “PDP is the way forward, Governor Obaseki is the light and he is now in PDP and he is setting the pace. The choice before us now is between light and darkness, which will you chose? Light! the women chorused. And if you have chosen light then you vote for PDP and if you vote for PDP you are voting for Godwin Obaseki and Philip Shaibu.”
National Deputy Women Leader of the PDP Hajia Hadizat Umoru said we have done it before and we know you will do it again. The person you will vote for is Governor Godwin Obaseki.
Deaconess Lizzy said on the 19th of this month we will all come out and vote for umbrella. Remember the Governor’s face will not be on the ballot papers so we will all be thumb printing umbrella that day.
