BENN CITY – It was weeping and wailing as unknown gunmen reportedly killed couple in Benin city.
The incident happened in Egor local government area of Edo state during the October 20, 2020 ENDSARS protest which later turned violence in the state
According to eyewitnesses, the aim of the faceless gun men who he said highlighted from their vehicles in combatant-like manner, was to Kill their son, Efe Oliha who was alleged to have masterminded the mayhem that greeted the 2015 general elections taking place in Obagie community where he (Efe) was alleged to have stormed with his supporters while the election was ongoing.
The two leading political parties, the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) and then main opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) party clashed resulting in the death of many, particularly supporters of the APC.
Then, some thugs were alleged to have later mobilized to Efe’s house in Egor where they in the wee hours of February 20, 2015 murdered his wife, Mrs. Promise and daughter, Sylvia Efe.
The eyewitnesses from the area who craved for anonymity told our correspondent that Efe was working for the the ruling PDP during the elections when he and his supporters group clashed with the APC supporters at a polling center in the community resulting to a free-for-all .
It was gathered that several lives, particularly those from the opposition were said to have lost in the process and property destroyed, while voters and residents scampered for safety.
The situation it was gathered, however, took a twist when the opposition APC party won the election and had been using power of incubency to clamping down on perceived enemies, especially the likes of Efe who was believed to be a stunch supporter of the PDP.
This development according to sources prompted the recent renewed bad bloods between the parties, where some suspected thugs capitalized on the October 20, 2020 ENDSARS protest to vent their angers on their political enemies by invading the house of Efe Oliha where they allegedly killed his parents.
When press crew visited the Egor community, residents were seen in groups, apparently discussing the matter, while other family members were visibly in sobber mood.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filling in this report, the whereabouts of Efe Oliha was yet unknown.
