BENIN CITY – There seems to be no end in sight as more trouble continued to trail a middle-aged woman, Abigail Igbinedion over alleged failure to fulfill agreement she purportedly reached with a suspected human trafficker simply identified as Mrs. Grace.
Igbinedion, a Bsc graduate of Sociology from the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma it was gathered after years of graduation without job decided to take up a skill job in fashion designing and hair making where she met Mrs. Grace who alleged patronize her shop on a regular basis.
Information received by our crime reporter indicated that the said Mrs. Grace on 12th of November, 2020 approached Igbinedion where she promised to sponsor her abroad to continue her trade in one her sewing shops in Italy.
Convinced by the promise, Abigail Igbinedion it was reported gave in for the proposal but that was not to be as they arrived in Abidjan in January, 2021 sooner than the turn of events later turned out to be a nightmare for her.
She was reported to have been introduced into prostitution on arrival in Abidjan instead of Italy where she was expected to sleep with men for money, a situation Igbinedion reportedly rejected triggering the beginning of her trauma as she was also expected to pay back the eight million naira allegedly used in facilitating her trip.
Despite her effort to escape back to Nigeria with the help of unknown Samaritan, Mrs. Grace it was further gathered recruited some able-bodied men who continued to torment and issuing series of threats to Igbinedion’s life until recently when they bursted her apartment on September 6th, 2021 and whisked her away to a deadly local which was later discovered to be the popular Tenboga criminal hangouts in Benin City where she was beaten to pup and body parts fractured with various weapons and left unconscious.
Abigail Igbinedion was reportedly taken to a hospital by one Samaritan identified as Mr. Amandi where she undergone surgery operations.
Efforts to get the security agents’ intervention on the matter did not yield the desired result as Igbinedion was again almost attacked when some unknown men visited the hospital where she was responding to treatment, claiming they were her relations and were there to see her and know how she is fairing.
But upon enquiries, the security at the hospital detected that they were there for a mission.
This it was gathered prompted Amandi to facilitate Abigail Igbinedion’s relocation to unknown destination in view of ensuring her safety.
Contacted, the State Police image-maker, SP Philip Asuen, who confirmed the report said that the police have commenced preliminary investigation into the matter, disclosing that no arrest have been made in connection of the incidence.
He alleged that Abigail Igbinedion who was receiving medical attention at the hospital (name withheld) after some days escaped to an unknown location and has not been seeing since then.
