Sexual assault is unacceptable in Nigeria as sex should be an activity agreed to by the two partners, who must be adults in their right frame of mind, and no party should be forced when indulging in sexual acts.

Assault

Sexual assault involving a minor is worse as it is a grievous and unpardonable crime against culture, tradition, religion, society, and humanity, as anyone indulged in it would face the full weight of the law.

Perpetrators of this dastardly act should never be allowed to walk freely in our streets but rather locked up in prisons where they will learn lessons and barred from working with young and vulnerable children or adults or having children in their custody for any reason whatsoever so that they will never have access or opportunity to another victim from their terrible actions.

Worse still, when it’s a same-sex assault on a minor, it becomes more shameless to hear and an abomination to behold as the perpetrator is playing on the innocence of that child who may not know the repercussions of the step taken. Such victims should be protected while the perpetrator should be named and shamed.

Following the determination to stop such an illegal act, Edo State Police Command arrested 35-year-old Obudu Diamond who has been involved in the act of homosexual activities and was recently implicated by a 15-year-old minor Philip Oghenemaro who allegedly had sex with him.

According to the report, Mr. Obudu Diamond who is a teacher in a Junior Secondary School (name withheld), a boarding school for all boys has been discovered to have been sexually molesting and harassing his students.

Mr Obudu Diamond is a mathematics teacher, and he is in the habit of luring his students, who approached him for further lessons, to a secret location where he sexually assaults them, and has annal sex with them promising to pass them in their mathematics subject.

Investigation revealed that Mr. Obudu has been involved in these acts for years before the 15-year-old student implicated him, Philip Oghenemaro fell sick and doctors diagnosed him with an anal disease; he confessed and accused his maths teacher Mr. Obudu Diamond, being responsible for the acts.

The report had it that after several investigations and findings, it was discovered that Oghenemaro has been having anal sex with him, allegations he continued to deny despite several pieces of evidence pointing to the obvious. But after several questioning and threats from his parents and doctors, Philip Oghenemaro insisted that his math teacher was responsible for his predicaments and illness.

The matter was immediately reported to the police and Obudu was arrested and paraded with order suspects. He confessed to sleeping with several students in the school promising them good grades in his subjects but regretted his actions.

When asked how many boys he had violated in the school, his response was about 11 boys, who he confirmed had left the school one by one for other reasons, as they never told their parents what happened to them in the school. “I am sorry for all these sexual acts against my students entrusted to me; it was not intentional, as I could not explain what came over me. I am truly sorry and regret all I have done”, he pleaded.

As of the time of filing this report, the school has been temporarily closed for investigation. The parents of the defiled 15-year-old child have pressed charges against the maths teacher who sexually violated their child, and the counsel hired by the parents vowed to ensure that the boy gets justice. Obudu Diamond is jailed for his shameless action against the minor.

In another related development, a man suspected to be bisexual, Jeremiah Ogheneovo Eregare, and his partner Samuel Josiah was caught and arrested by one of the security guards in a toilet having sex in one of the clubhouses in Ihema, GRA, Benin City however, before the police could arrive at the scene to transfer the suspects to the State Police Command, some LGBTIQ members who were also present in the clubhouse assisted in their escape.

Detectives who arrived at the scene could only arrest one for assisting the suspects to escape along Ihama Road before Boundary Road junction, promising to ensure the law takes its entire course and those involved in the crime are brought before justice. Those arrested have been helping the police with useful information to apprehend the prime suspects. The police rely on the clubhouse’s CCTV Camera to help identify and apprehend the suspects who escape.

Also, the Edo State Police Command has raided a hideout used as a hotel (name withheld) for LGBTIQ members of the society in a remote part of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Areas of the State.

Acting on a tip-off, the Idogbo Divisional Police Station went under surveillance of the said hotel for over three weeks to ascertain the true nature of the activities and discovered that its a hideout for LGBTIQ members to practice their illegal sexual activities.

Investigation revealed that the police were able to spot the location and kept an eye on Solomon Atutu who is a prominent youth in the area and has been fingered to have a link with this group as well as also monitoring one Felicia Akugbe who is a female football player for a local female football Club who has also been said to be a lesbian.

The report had it that Solomon Atutu has been covering the LGBTIQ group for a fee and have used illegal extortion to maintain his lifestyle. The duo was monitored by the police investigation team, which gathered enough evidence of their involvement and participation in the shameless act of LGBTIQ before raiding the hideout by 2 am arresting over 13 people while some others escaped.

The State Government has since shut down the hotel and the proprietor of the place has been arrested and helping the police with relevant information to help arrest other members on the run. Solomon Atutu confessing to the crime said he was a politician and would sort himself out as he boasted while being taken away with other suspects arrested by the police.

However, the new police boss commended his men for the arrests and assure the public that not only will they wipe out criminality from the State, but will also wipe out all social vices that are at variance with the law and culture of the land. He appealed to the general public to trust the police and provide helpful information that would assist them in curbing crimes and criminality in the State and the Country.
