Benin City – Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has charged Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries in the State to work in tandem with the vision of the present administration for the actualization of its MEGA Agenda.
The Deputy Governor gave the charge, while declaring open the onboarding program for the Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries, which held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, Benin City, the Edo State Capital.
“I want to charge all of us that we should take advantage and opportunity to see what has been created with this program to understand where this government is going. In open parlance, it is always said that in every administration, there is a vision and a mission.
The vision is well thought out by the Governor and that becomes the vision of the State. The vision to reposition Edo State, actually started a long time ago, but with Governor Obaseki, he has taken it to another level and this vision is going to outlive us.”
“Our vision is a 30- year master plan which represents a whole lot of things, including reorganizing the State, creating a new town, having a master plan that, I am sure our children, grandchildren will be the ones to enjoy the benefits. Now, you are meant to actualize the mission; vision on one side, but to translate that vision, you need a mission and you are the missionaries to translate that vision. So that is why this program is very important and you must take it seriously”.
“Note that this is a Governor that will want you to express yourself and you cannot express yourself when you don’t know the direction of government, which is the vision”.
The Deputy Governor, however, advised the Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries to be free to operate, be bold and make decisions as their appointments was based on merit.
“Our government is not a government that believes that every step you take, you must come and ask.
All of you were carefully selected and we are happy that you are the new face of Edo State and you must prove it. And that is why as missionaries to actualize this vision, you need to take all the notes, all those things that make of that vision is what will be unveiled to you so that when you go back to your ministries and your parastatals, you just only need to key in, just plug in and just actualize”.
“I want you to just be free, relax and just take your work important and I am sure together,we have an Edo State of our dreams and the MEGA Agenda will be actualized through your missionary journey to actualize this vision”.
The Secretary to Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie, Esq., made a presentation on the workings of government, while outlining the functions and responsibilities of the various political appointees.
In his remarks,Edo State Head of Service (HOS), Anthony Okungbowa, appreciated the Deputy Governor for being a formidable pillar of support to Governor Obaseki in their quest at Making Edo State Great Again.
