Warri – A 29-year old lady is presently helping the Delta State Police Command in investigating the activities of a five -man drug gang.

The suspected drug dealers, including the 19-year-old lady, and two armed robbers were arrested by the Delta Police during patrols on Tuesday, April 26 at Ugwuashi-Uku and Benin-Sapele Road in Delta State.
According to a statement signed and made available to Nigerian Observer by DSP. Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer, the two incidents happened on the same day.D

SP Edafe stated that the Command Crack Squad while acting on a tip- off raided a suspected criminal hideout at Azugwu Street, Umuonicha quarters and arrested three suspected drug dealers namely; Izuagbe Theophilus (m) 20yrs, Okofu Henry (m) 22yrs, and Confidence Ugochukwu (f) 19yrs.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects included; 147 wraps of dry weeds suspected to be loud, 47 wraps of substances suspected to be cocaine, seven wraps of Colorado, and 44 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

He also stated that during a stop-and-search on the highway by the operatives deployed along Benin Sapele Road, one cut-to-size double barrel gun was found concealed inside the engine compartment of a Toyota Camry car with Reg No. APP 134 UP driven by one Osasere Megegbe (m), 45, and one other.

Upon further investigation and interrogation, Edafe revealed that two additional long single barrel guns hidden under the back seat of the vehicle were also recovered.

APP 134 UP driven by one Osasere Megegbe ‘m’ age 45, in company of one Edosa Monday ‘m’ aged 35, both of no 12 Emah Community road, Ekiadolor Benin City.

“During the search, one cut-to-size double barrel gun was found concealed inside the engine compartment. The suspects were promptly arrested, the gun and vehicle recovered to the station.

“Upon further investigation and interrogation, two additional long single barrel guns shrouded under the back sit of the vehicle were also recovered.

“Suspects are in custody and will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” he stated.
