A frontline Senatorial Aspirant, Sunny Aguebor, popularly called BIBI has officially informed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Executive in Edo State of his intention to contest the Edo South Senatorial elections in Edo State.
The PDP chairman, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi who lauded the aspirant for contributing to the growth of the party in Oredo Local Government area since 2003 noted, “we don’t want people without track record of helping the party when the party was in dare need.
“Some of us joined the party since 1998 and we have not decamped to other party. We are excited to have you here, especially as you have been steadfast in the party. We know our own and we believe that BIBI is one of us and he is somebody who is deep rooted and will be an asset to the party”.
According to him, “the PDP is a matured political party and we are happy to know that you have always helped Oredo local government area because that is the kind of thing we want from our members.”
The chairman advised all aspirants contesting the forth coming elections not to use foul language while campaigning and to desist from using thugs because the PDP is a family despite the fact that they sometimes have their differences.
While praying that God bless the works of the hand of Sunday Aguebor, he disclosed that it is the delegates that will decide the fate of all aspirants.
Earlier, Mr. Sunny Aguebor said the situation in the country in 2003 motivated him to get involved in politics and since then he has been contributing to the growth of Edo PDP.
According to him, he left the shores of this country thirty years ago to Japan where he lives and set up different businesses and in 1998, when he came back to Nigeria he saw the need to extend that gestures, those things he did in Japan he brought to Nigeria with special reference to Edo state and Benin city.
“I set up the BIBI foundation that has provided jobs for our people, provided scholarships for youths and created opportunities for many of them to travel abroad. A lot of people have benefited immensely from these gestures. What really motivated me into politics was the situation in the country, when I came I discovered that there were lapses.
“I registered as a member of the PDP in 2003 and since then we have been doing our best with what we can to make sure the party survives. I remember vividly in 2006 when there was a crisis in the party some of us saw the need to intervene.
“During that period, the congress that was organized in Oredo was sponsored by me single handedly and I met the National delegate of this great party in 2007 and since then we have been doing all we can to make sure the party survives,” he added.
According to him, “Nigeria today is collapsing, it is on ICU, the country is dying and the PDP as a party has come out with a slogan, ‘Rescue Nigeria’ and how do we rescue Nigeria, it is by resetting the system.
“Nigeria needs people who have proven integrity, people who are transparent, people who have history for achievement in their individual capacity, people who can ask questions. We don’t need bench warmers, people who go there for their personal interest.
“Most of the problem of Nigeria is at the National Assembly because they fail to ask questions. Nobody is asking question and that is why the economy is collapsing. You can imagine some months ago someone imported adulterated fuel into Nigeria, as we speak nobody has asked a question.
“Mr. chairman sir, if I am given the opportunity to represent this party at the senate, I will do a lot for the party, you can investigate from Oredo about what I have done in the past, the video tapes are there,”
