EKPOMA – The Ambrose Alli University, (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State has matriculated 7,923 new students for 2021/2022 academic session, with the acting vice chancellor, Prof. Sonnie Adagbonyin charging the fresh students to shun unwholesome practices and unbecoming character.

The acting vice chancellor while addressing the matriclating students at the 39th matriculation ceremony of the university, advised them to be focused, disciplined and obedient to the rules and regulations of the university.

Prof. Adagbonyin assured the students of the university ‘s commitment to providing conducive atmosphere for learning and other recognised activities, just as he pledged that the university management would provide the needed security to ensure the safety of lives and properties.

He regretted that the 2020/2021 session experienced disruption of academic activities due to the strike action by the staff unions, but expressed delight that the session was eventually completed, paving way for the commencement 2021/2022 academic session, and the matriculation of new students.

He congratulated the new students for being among the successful candidates that gained admission into the university, urging them to live up to the excellent standards expected of them.

He used the occasion to expressed deep appreciation to His Execellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the visitor to the university, and the chairman and members of the Special Intervention Team for their unwavering support in repositioning the university.

“As you celebrate your studentship, I wish to assure you that the university management is ever ready to create a conducive atmosphere for learning and other recognised activities.

“To that extent, every student should be focused , disciplined and obedient to the university rules and regulations. You must shun unwholesome practices and unbecoming character, as your degree would be awarded to you based on sound character and learning”, the vice chancellor advised.

The high points of the ceremony were the administration of the matriculation oath by the acting registrrar of the university, Mr. Ambrose Odiase, and the proclamation by the vice chancellor, Prof. Sonnie Adagbonyin, to formally admit the new students to membership of Ambrose Alli University.
