Edo State Government, through the Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives  has reaffirmed its commitment to the promotion of MSMEs in the state by building a center of excellence (Production Hub) in every senatorial district for a particular product that each senatorial district is known for.

Hon. Afishetu Braimoh made this known while speaking at the 9th session of the Talk to the People webinar series  with the theme “MSMEs Development: A vehicle for Achieving Economic Revolution in Edo State.”

Hon. Braimoh said, “Over 600 MSMEs were trained on Financial Management Literacy across senatorial districts; five MSMEs with market-ready products were helped through product designs, packaging, labeling, NAFDAC registration and were showcased at the May 2022 NASSI(MSMEs) Lagos trade fair, 250 MSMEs were trained on packaging; 62 MSMEs were trained on packaging; and a series of packaging workshops were conducted.

“The Edo state government, in collaboration with the Bank of Industry, is providing access to loans and as part of the MEGA Agenda of Governor Obaseki to light the state. As we speak, the Osiomo power plant powers all government buildings and all the street lights, and we are extending its reach. The Benin enterprise park just kicked off, and at Sapele road, an industrial park is being built where MSMEs will be allocated space by clusters and they will be provided with power 24 hours a day, which is close to the sea port for export.

“The Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives inaugurated a 7-man committee to look into developing an MSMEs program at the grassroots level. Their report will help to solve MSMEs’ problems, and these issues will be brought before Governor Obaseki,”

“We are engaging with unions, NAFDAC, SON, NEPC,AWEB, BOI, and using Data To MEGA. We write to these agencies for collaboration and engagement to move Made-in-Edo products to a greater level.

“I have taken a step to build a shared facility that can provide services to MSMEs to share the same facility on schedule. And Edo state has a technology hub that is training the youth on different technologies. ”
Mr. Aneru Ezuagbe, Managing Director, Amina Foods, appreciated Governor Obaseki for appointing Hon. Afishetu Braimoh as their product is now on the shelf in Miami because of what the Ministry of Business, Trade, and Cooperatives is doing,” she added

The Chief convener of the Edo Media Forum and the outgoing Commissioner for the Ministry of Communication and Orientation, Hon. Andrew Emwanta JP, appreciated the speaker for the Master Class, as she fully dealt with the theme, while reassuring the forum of the continuity of the Talk to the People webinar series as he takes over another Ministry as Commissioner.
