Edo State Commissioner for Youth and Gender Issues, Hon. Andrew Adaze Emwanta Esq. JP has advised  Corps members in the state not to allow themselves to be used as tools by politicians as the general elections draw near.

The Commissioner who made the appeal during his maiden visit to the National Youth Service Corp, Permanent Orientation Camp at Okada, urged the Corps members to shun any gratification by politicians.

According to him, the state government working with the NYSC will provide the necessary logistics to make their stay during their primary assignment comfortable.

“Be rest assured, Edo state is the safest place to be in the country. But while going about your duties be very security conscious and for those going to the riverine areas, always use your live jacket” he noted.

While commending the state coordinator of the NYSC Camp, Mrs. Abiodun Olubukola, the Commissioner said he is very impressed with what is going on in the camp which is one of the best in the country.

He assured the Corps members that there are many places of interest in Edo State which is the heart beat of the nation that they will be posted to for their primary assignment and he urged them to be creative and  take advantage of the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub to develop their skills.

The Commissioner thanked Access Bank for giving grants to the Corps members to spur them to be creative.

The State Coordinator NYSC, Mrs. Abiodun Olubukola who  disclosed  that there are 134 members in the 2022 batch 61 who entered the camp on the 2nd of November, said she is very proud of them for being disciplined, dedicated and loyal.

She expressed appreciation to the state government all that has been done in the camp and thanked Access Bank for empowering the Corps members with the grant.

The Commissioner earlier inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Corps Members, the Camp Clinic, the Mammy Market, Kitchen and he assured that the government will continue to take care of the welfare of the Corps Members  in the state.

In the entourage of the Commissioner was the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Peter Osagie, the Director Shared Services, Malam Usman Binanu, the Director, Gender Issues, Mrs. Joy Ihensekhien, the Director of Planning, Mr. Oboh Igberaese, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Communication, Petrina Olumese and other Special Assistants.
