The Edo State Government in Partnership with Greenfield Consultancy and Allied Services LTD (GCASL) has commenced a two(2) day extensive competency assessment exercise for the Staff of Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency to improve PHC service delivery by building the capacity of health care workers in the state.

The exercise which took place during the week at the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency’s conference hall was slated to be conducted across the three(3) senatorial districts of the state.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary(EDSPHCDA) Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen represented by the Director of the Department of Community and Family Health Services (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, noted during his opening remarks that the exercise is imperative as it is geared towards empowering and strengthening the performance of the Primary Healthcare workers in the state for effective healthcare delivery through human capital development.

Dr. Idemudia admonished the healthcare workers present at the event to see the exercise as a sure way of building their capacity in ensuring that gaps identified in providing quality healthcare service delivery to the grassroots are bridged and confidence of the people in accessing care at primary health care (PHC) centers is restored.

According to Dr. Idemudia Osayomore, the exercise is aimed at conducting a staff competency assessment and identifying staff training needs as well as development programs that would accelerate capacity building and bridge identified skills gaps and competence.

Also speaking at the event, a delegate from Greenfield Consultancy and Allied Services LTD, Mr. Isaac Ebewele reiterated that the Edo state government public and civil service is the engine room of the state government and it is the interface between the government and the people, hence the importance of conducting the competency assessment exercise.
