The Edo State Government is committed to ensuring a technologically driven Service to ensure a productive workforce and ensure sustainability.

The Edo State Head of Service Anthony Okungbowa Esq made this known when he played host to delegates from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and ACIOE Associates who are leaders of the planned Digital Transformation Project in Edo State in his Office in Government House, Benin City.

The Head of Service told the visiting delegates that the State Government is leveraging on technology to enhance service delivery to successfully attain its strategic objective for a digitally inclined Civil/Public Service.

He explained that Technology being the driving force of any given economy, Edo State will continue to leverage its immense benefits to thrive.

He further highlighted areas where the State Government has deployed technology in its operations like the E-governance tool where government system has been automated to ensure quality service
delivery to Edo people.

He noted that all the seventy two (72) MDAs in the State have been onboarded to function electronically.

He said others include the Residency Card Implementation, and the Fleet Management System otherwise known as Edo MEGA Connect. He told the visiting team that the Government is ready to collaborate to ensure that the already technologically driven Civil/Public Service of the State is stabilized and sustained to yield effective service.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting team, Olubunmi Okunowo of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation said that they are in Edo to partner with the State to ensure that State Government usage of digital technology to drive its process of Governance gets optimal result.

He explained that there has to be cross fertilization of Ideas putting Investment to promote digital capability as the Bill and Millinda Gates Foundation aims at building and operationalizing digital life time model and strengthen the technological system of Government to help build capacity.

Also speaking Ekenem Isichei of the ACIOE Associates said it is essential to strengthen the already existing structures as people transit from Edo on a daily basis to other places, stressing that it is imperative to build digital solutions to help the Civil/Public servants become more efficient in carrying out their assigned duties
